Project smart bridge

Title: Traffic analysis in Bizerte bridge (sub 1)

Faculty of Sciences of Bizerte-HANALab, Tunisia/ LaBRI, University of Bordeaux, France (6 months, 2 months at LaBRI laboratory)

Supervisors: Dr. Imen Jemili (imenj1@gmail.com)/ Pr. Mohamed Mosbah

Description : Traffic jam, occurring frequently in Bizerte Bridge, induces slower speeds, longer trip times, and increased vehicular queueing. Traffic congestion can lead to drivers becoming frustrated due to the slow speed of the traffic stream. To be able to forecast traffic flow, analysing traffic is a required step.

Objectives:

  1. Modelling of the Bizerte Bridge traffic including the roads around
  2. Simulate the queuing system associated and measure performance: delay, queue length, etc.
  3. Exploit existing data bases about alternative bridges in order to:
    1. Apply video recognition algorithms about the traffic parameters (number of vehicles, directions, size/type of vehicles, time, season, periods, vacations, etc.
    2. Apply traffic prediction techniques and generate recommendations for future smart Bridge.
Required skills: algorithmic, numerical simulation, queuing

Requirements:

  1. Appropriate software for traffic simulation, smart transportation,
  2. Video data base about bridge traffic.
